Employer of choice

An age-diverse business is well-placed to develop its reputation as a socially responsible employer. This can have a positive impact on bottom-line performance by generating good publicity and making the business an employer of choice - attracting highly skilled and reliable recruits through its reputation for fair and equal treatment.

An employer needs to work hard to attract and retain talent and, as competition for the best increases, businesses that do not have a good reputation as an employer will find themselves at a disadvantage.

Being an employer of choice in an environment with an ageing population means ensuring that employment policies and practices are attractive to all age groups.

Treating all people equally, regardless of age, and at all stages of the employment cycle, will contribute to a business' reputation and standing in the community, and will encourage talented individuals, of all ages, to both join and remain with an employer.
